email- paige@douglasvillegymnastics.com

Paige has been a Douglas County Resident since 1978. While in elementary and middle school, Paige participated in a gymnastics program that held classes in the Douglasville Armory. During high school, she started teaching gymnastics and tumbling classes. During this time, she also helped instruct the first competitive gymnastics team in Douglas County.

In August of 1987, along with Ivy Lee, Paige opened Douglasville Gymnastics & Cheerleading Club, Inc. Classes were held at Deer Lick Park. After just nine months, the program outgrew the available space that Deer Lick Park offered. From there, the business was moved to a location on Highway 5 where the business thrived. In the spring of 2002, Paige moved again into the current location on Bright Star Road that was built and designed specifically for training gymnastics and cheerleading.

Paige has an extensive list of training courses, certifications and accreditations related to gymnastics, cheerleading, athlete safety, and business administration. More importantly, Paige has successfully built a place where gymnasts and cheerleaders can not only safely train for their sport, but also have a place they truly feel is their second home. Paige’s staff is a testament to her impact on others; only 5 out of 39 current staff members were not former DGC students.

Personally, Paige resides in Winston Georgia with her husband Chris Etheridge of 33 years. They have a daughter, Meadow, who is currently a senior at Alexander High School.

Daja Johnson

Class Instructor

Daja enrolled in Douglasville Gymnastics & Cheerleading Club’s recreational (gymnastics) program while in middle school after being a self taught gymnast throughout her childhood. After being evaluated, she “skipped” levels, moving straight to one of the Division 7/8 (advanced) class options. From there, her gymnastics skills advanced quickly. Soon after, she was invited to join DGC’S X-Team (exhibition team) and later, invited to DGC STORM (a recreational, competitive team for more advanced class students- also known as Gym Stars.) Now, a little older, she wants to combine two of her greatest passions: gymnastics and children, to pour into her students as her coaches have always poured into her! Since joining DGC’S staff, Daja has attended multiple hands-on clinics and received intensive training specific to both gymnastics and tumbling. Daja's FAVORITE thing about working at DGC is the environment and the people she gets to work with. As a former member herself, Daja often helps out with DGC's Storm team.

DeAngela Knight

Class Instructor

A graduate from Douglas County High School, DeAngela was Douglasville born & raised. DeAngela started taking recreational cheerleading classes at DGC at the age of 12. The following year, she was recruited to the Douglasville Cheer Stars program where she continued to cheer throughout her senior year of high school. As a competitive cheerleader, DeAngela won several national titles throughout the years, including Cheersport Nationals, and received several bids to the D2 Summit. DeAngela was on Cheer Star’s first ever Level 5 team – which she notes as her favorite season as a cheerleader. During her senior year of high school, DeAngela joined the DGC staff as a class instructor and a Novice Cheer Stars Coach. Now, DeAngela is a lead class instructor for DGC and enjoys teaching preschool and gymnastics classes the most. DeAngela is also a Prep Cheer Stars coach for the second season, helping other girls love the sport of cheer as much as she did growing up! Outside of work, DeAngela is a fur-mom of two dogs named Hero and Loco. Her sisters are some of her best friends and she loves being an Aunt to her niece, Patience. DeAngela, also known as Coach D, and her family are big Ohio State football fans…GO BUCKEYES!!

Cheerleading is a huge contributor of who she is. While she is still exploring her options for college, Geneva hopes to become an OB one day!

Abigail Smith

Class Instructor

A former DGC class student, Abigail began falling in love with the sport of gymnastics at age six when her parents enrolled her in recreational, gymnastics classes. Three years later, she was invited to be a part of the Douglasville Dream Team (competitive gymnastics team,) and continued competing for the next four years (through USAG Level 7.) After “retiring” from the sport at age 13, she then cheered for the following two years. Abigail is thankful for the opportunity to return to DGC (her HOME gym) as a class instructor for the second season now. Since started at DGC, Abigail has attended multiple hands-on clinics and received intensive training specific to gymnastics, cheerleading, and tumbling. She is excited to share her knowledge, to have the chance to teach other children about the sports she loves!

Carlie Estes

A former student at Douglasville Gymnastics & Cheerleading Club, Inc., Carlie started taking gymnastics classes at the age of three. Now, a college freshman at the University of West Georgia, she is super excited for her 4th year on DGC’S instructional staff! A professional member of USA Gymnastics, she has attended multiple training sessions, and received additional instructor certifications through USAG- most recently completing the U100 course. She loves kids, and working with kids. She also volunteers in her church nursery, and also serves in their children’s department (ages 6-12.) Combining both of her passions, gymnastics and children, this is her dream job!

Alex Vick

Class Instructor

Gymnastics and cheerleading have both played an integral role in Alex's life. She began taking gymnastics classes at Douglasville Gymnastics and Cheerleading Club at the age of two, and went on to compete as a Douglasville Dream Team member for the next 11 years, finishing her career at USAG Level 10. One of the gymnastics accomplishments of which she is most proud was being selected to compete for the Level 8 Georgia Regional Team. A recent graduate of the University of Georgia, Alex earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health. While at UGA, she had the opportunity to cheer on the DAWGS (literally) as a four-year member of their cheerleading team- proudly cheering for football, basketball, volleyball, and even at gymnastics meets. Some of her favorite experiences on UGA’S team include being selected “captain” in her senior year, cheering at Mercedes-Benz Stadium for the SEC Championship, traveling to California to cheer on the Bulldogs at the 2018 Rose Bowl, and then back to Atlanta for the National Championship game. This year, as a DGC staff member, she will coach a variety of different, recreational classes offered including gymnastics, cheerleading, and tumbling. She is excited to be back at her HOME gym, DGC! In the future, she plans to advance her education with hopes of becoming an Occupational Therapist.
