Soon after, in 1984, she developed and instructed Douglas County’s first, preschool gymnastics classes at Hunter Park. Ivy also coached Douglasville’s first competitive gymnastics team. In 1987- Ivy, along with Paige Etheridge (current DGC owner) merged their two, preschool gymnastics programs to develop/create a preschool/recreational gymnastics program (Douglasville Gymnastics Club- later renamed Douglasville Gymnastics & Cheerleading Club, Inc.) As co-owner, Ivy instructed/coached preschool, recreational, and competitive team programs, helped to develop/build the business, and establish curriculum. DGC’S first classes were taught out of Deer Lick Park. In the fall of 1988, the business moved to a rented facility on Highway 5, where Ivy and Paige remained business partners until 1997. After selling her half of the business, Ivy remained on staff as a competitive coach/class instructor until 2010.
When her youngest daughter “retired” from competitive gymnastics, Ivy put her coaching career on hold to help start a food ministry for a local church. She later returned to the sport in 2012. In her years as a gymnastics professional, Ivy has received extensive training and numerous certifications through USA Gymnastics for preschool, recreational, and competitive programs. Additional certifications include CPR, Safety, and Safe Sport. In addition to her professional credentials, Ivy is consistently bringing new excitement, creativity, and innovative concepts/ideas to DGC’S growing, preschool program.

Ivy also enjoys being outdoors. She enjoys gardening; she even took a course to become a certified Master Gardener. Her parents live in Florida, so many weekends, Ivy can be found outside, enjoying the beach and/or fulfilling her family’s obsession with Disney. Inspired and fueled by art and creativity, Ivy loves taking things from trash to treasure. She paints everything from furniture, children’s murals, and recently, even Yorkies on canvas. Her favorite quote- “A woman’s heart should be so hidden in God that a man has to seek Him to find her.”
